About Me

Hoi from the Netherlands! Mijn naam is Jessica and I’m over the hills in love with my husband Royce, our four kids, our Lord, and our Catholic faith. Seeking union with HIM daily gives me the grace to be the mom HE wants me to be…especially for us Texans living in a foreign country. I trudge through puddles of rain on our bikes more than tiptoeing through any tulips. Baking, cooking, photography, and reading are my passions. Colors make me happy. Turquoise, green, and vibrant fall colors make me skip. I love coffee in tiny tea cups, bakeries, dark chocolate, boots, blue jeans, cozy quilts, kindling fires outside or in, red wine, herbs, and vegetable gardens. I live for Fridays, family game nights, and homemade pizza. I’m oh so thankful for our families and friends, our times together, and the inspirations they have given to me.

“I know God will not give me anything I can’t handle. I just wish that He didn’t trust me so much.” Mother Teresa

    • VERY cool! Message me at jgerngross@gmail.com or FB and we can work something out. Such a SMALL world! Looking forward to meeting you!

    • Hi Ladies! I am so excited to have found your blog. I am a native of Austin, TX but will likely be relocating to the Netherlands with my two kids and husband in 3 months or so. I would love any advice on International schools near Den Bosch. We will be there in a couple of weeks to house hunt. I would love to connect with other Texans once we are over there! jaclyncordes@gmail.com

  3. Hello! I love reading your blog. We are currently living in colroado, although we are Texas residents and just found out a move to the Netherlands (delft) may be in our future. I would love to connect as I don’t even know where to start! (Other than all the resources you listed!)

  5. I just received undated information from Tempe for the Schwartz reunion as she is my mothers first cousin. I went to school with Norma Jean at TWU. I was excited to read your blog as I am leaving Friday for a Viking River cruise to The Netherlands mostly to see the Tulips & the Windmills. I was interested in all you had to say about the country and your experiences. You will never regret your decision to spend this time abroad as it is vital to a good education. I am very happy for you. Sincerely,

  6. lillian Dolle says:

    Dear Jess,
The pictures are all so beautiful, I just know the world is truly a beautiful
place. With all that goes on that is so negative, I turn to nature and my
soul is lifted. Only God can provide the comfort of nature’s beauty. I am so
happy for your family to experience all the true beauty in life.
I love you all and can’t wait to share some coffee and chocolate. Aj and I just
returned from Hawaii and Jess the coffee was WONDERFUL. I will get AJ to get our
pictures together and email them to you. We skipped out of the city and headed for
the mountains, a cruise on the Green oceans to see sea turtles and then a tour of the
most magical valley I have ever seen in my life. So overwhelming was the beauty of
it all I just kept thanking God for his beauty.
    Aunt Lill
